Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is unveiling what has been called one of the last gems in the Valley of the Sun — a hidden canyon nestled between Paradise Valley and The Arizona Biltmore offering 12 one-of-a-kind homesites surrounded by the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.
Less than one mile north of Lincoln Drive on 40th Street Crown Canyon is named for the surrounding ridges and peaks which evoke the silhouette of a crown.
The 12-lot gated community is the brainchild of Garth Wieger of Montage Acquisitions and his partner Kevin Groman, according to a press release.
Central to the blue ribbon team assembled for this work is the Scottsdale-based architectural firm of Swaback Partners, the release states.
“What makes this site so special is that it not only represents the drama and beauty of the lushly vegetated mountains of the Sonoran Desert, but it does so within four miles of Biltmore Fashion Park and 12 miles from Sky Harbor Airport and downtown Phoenix,” said Garth Wieger.
“The 12-lot gated community’s sense of wonder starts at its uniquely designed gated entry and continues into its amphitheater-like embrace of ocotillo-lined ridges, dramatic rock outcroppings and abundant stands of majestic saguaros. We are proud to note that Swaback Partners has agreed to act as the architectural approval authority for Crown Canyon. This involvement ensures the beautiful symphony of architecture and design will be in perfect harmony with the land.”
Architect Vernon D. Swaback, who served as Frank Lloyd Wright’s youngest apprentice, observed that “the unique character of this setting is one that Wright would have relished. Now 50 years after his passing, the joyful task is one of translating the principles that he pioneered into new forms, systems and provisions for the kind of indoor/outdoor living as a celebration of this most magnificent property.”
This Valley community is designed to enhance the mountain setting for homeowners to enjoy single-story living with decks overlooking the beauty of the plush, natural desert while offering lock-and-leave convenience, the release states.
Crown Canyon is the only community of its kind affording 360 degree views with optimal space for entertaining and relaxing outdoors in the peace and tranquility of the Sonoran Desert, yet in the heart of the city.
Chris Karas, of The Karas Group at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is listing the homesites and says homesite reservations are being accepted. Mr. Karas says buyers will be able to choose their own designer and builder for the custom-built homes. Of the 12 lots, there will be 10 homesites available for purchase.
“At Sotheby’s we see beautiful art and properties every day, but very rarely do we come across a property where the beauty of the desert and first class homesites have been combined to create a one-of-a-kind livable masterpiece,” said Mr. Karas.
“At Crown Canyon no two homesites are alike. Every home will have its own unique features; each to be its own hidden gem.”
