In the world of all-star cheerleading, there’s a new player in town: Phoenix Cheer Elite.
Veteran cheer coach and educator Melodie Brewer is realizing a childhood dream and opening her own 9,300 square foot cheer gym in North Phoenix.
Centrally located near I-17 and Union Hills Rd. at 18401 N. 25th Ave., Phoenix Cheer Elite will provide aspiring cheerleaders training in recreational and All-star cheerleading.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I have been captivated by the athleticism and showmanship involved in cheerleading,” said Ms. Brewer in a press release. “As I have grown, I have been honored to share my knowledge and passion for this unbelievable sport with others and I feel so privileged to be able to do something I love on a daily basis.”
Ms. Brewer currently serves as Head Spiritline Coach for Boulder Creek High School in Anthem. She has been coaching cheer and pom for schools and private organizations for 21 years and has been a classroom teacher for 16 years.
She has provided choreography, stunt safety clinics and tryout/competition judging for several schools and organizations around the Valley.
“I believe my experiences as an educator have helped me as a coach,” said Ms. Brewer in the release. “My goal as a coach is to not only produce great athletes, but to also develop confident, healthy, and successful individuals who can apply what they learn in the gym to their everyday lives.”
Upon opening, PCE will offer open gym times and coaching for recreational cheer and tumbling, all-star/prep competitive cheer and school squad instruction. Adult fitness, parent/tot classes, tiny cheer/tumbling, coach-in-training programs and other specialty classes will be wait-listed and offered as soon as class enrollment reaches five or more students.
The fully air-conditioned facility consists of two separate training rooms equipped with both a full mat cheer floor and spring floor, and will house a 30’ tumble track, a spacious viewing room and a Pro Shop filled with the latest in cheer gear.
Free trial classes and pre-registration will be available online starting Aug. 10. Opening specials include waiving the placement fee for All-star/prep classes until Jan. 1, 2017, free T-shirts and bows for all rec students, and online coupons.
PCE hopes to officially open their doors on Aug. 29.
