McDonald’s of Scottsdale restaurants raised more than $9,000 for local elementary schools and organizations during a special “McTeacher’s Night Challenge” held in October.
Scottsdale McDonald’s restaurants, owned by Jerry Wernau and Mark Kramer, hosted the month-long challenge fundraising event for 16 Scottsdale and Paradise Valley schools and organizations.
Laguna Elementary won the “McTeacher’s Night Challenge” and received $500 for first place, Christ Church of Ascension received $300 for second place and Desert Canyon Elementary received $200 for third place.
As part of each McTeacher Night’s fundraiser, a portion of McDonald’s sales, 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., benefited each school. School staff greeted the McDonald’s customers, served food, sold cookies and worked side by side with the McDonald’s staff.
In the past three years, Scottsdale McDonald’s owners Wernau and Kramer have given more than $80,000 to Scottsdale and Paradise Valley schools and organizations from McTeacher’s Night fundraisers.
Wernau stated that another Scottsdale and Paradise Valley McTeacher’s Night Challenge fundraising event is planned for October, 2015. Schools can register by calling Christy Napolitano at 602-469-1813 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We are delighted to work with our local schools to raise money for education,” said Jerry Wernau, McDonald’s owner/operator. “We take great pride as local business owners in giving back to our community.”
