In celebration of its 30th anniversary season, Fountain Hills Theater announces the opening of “30 Years – The Show,” a high-energy, multi-media musical retrospective of Fountain Hills Theater’s history.
The theater began as the brainchild of Sandi McGee in 1986 with a three show season performed at McDowell Elementary School, according to a press release.
In the intervening years, through the efforts of an army of volunteers and a dedicated staff headed by Val Stasik, FHT has grown to be a respected non-professional theaters in the Valley with hundreds of ‘Best of” nominations and wins.
Author and director, Peter J. Hill, promises a musical evening that he claims will showcase – however briefly – at least one song from each of the over 100 musicals presented by FHT since they began in 1986.
Big shows like Cats, Miss Saigon as well as smaller productions such as Fantasticks, I Do, I Do and even the half dozen world premier musicals will all be represented. Thirty of FHT audience’s favorite performers are returning to recreate some of their finest roles, including Kathleen Berger, Chad Campbell, Heidi Carpenter, Ross Collins, Alex Gonzalez , Peter J. Hill, Scott Hyder, Noel Irick, Matt McDonald, Debra Qualtire, Patrick Russo, Val Stasik and Michael Stewart.
30 Years-The Show! is produced by Allison Hacker, directed by Peter J. Hill, choreographed by Noel Irick and musically directed by Jennifer Whiting.
The show will play Aug. 19-28. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. A reception will be held on Opening Night for all those attending that evening, featuring free appetizers and soft drinks.
Individual tickets are $30 for adults and $23 for children 17 and under. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances, the release stated. Group rates and student rush discounts are available. Veterans receive 50 percent off for up to two tickets, active duty and immediate family are free up to four tickets, the release stated.
