Join Healthy LifeStars for their second annual StepUp4Kids walk-a-thon and benefit dinner taking place this fall.
The fundraiser will recognize and honor Dr. Susan Wilder, founder and CEO of LifeScape Premier medical practice.
Healthy LifeStars has also announced their honorary chair, two-time Heisman trophy winner and former National Football League running back, Archie Griffin.
The walk-a-thon, Sunday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 23, and fundraiser dinner, Wednesday, Nov. 9, will raise funds to allow under served and at risk children to participate in Healthy LifeStars’ youth program, according to a press release. Fifty dollars allows one child to participate in The LifeStar Challenge for free for one year.
The program is a before and after school healthy lifestyle program that teaches elementary-age kids how to live active, healthy lives now and in the future.
The StepUp4Kids walk-a-thon is a week-long challenge for everyone to get out and be active while raising awareness and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle at a young age. Walk-a-thon registration opens Monday, Aug. 1, the release stated. Sign up at healthylifestars.org/step-up-4-kids.
Children ages 17 and younger can participate for free. Adult participation is $25.
Participants will log their daily steps online at healthylifestars.org/my-account. People can count their steps by using a pedometer, a Fitbit-like device or a free app to track your steps.
The top three adults, the top team and top 25 children will be awarded and recognized at the dinner. The winners will earn prizes and attend the dinner for free, the release stated.
A fundraiser dinner will be held 5:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, 15656 N. Hayden Road. Guests can partake in live and silent auctions and enjoy live entertainment, all while helping raise funds for the children.
