Black Friday, Nov. 25, is the official kick-off for to the Scottsdale Fire Department Annual Toy Drive benefiting hundreds of families.
New, unwrapped toys and gift cards are accepted at all SFD fire stations and headquarters from through Dec. 23.
“Our community is extremely generous,” said Fire Chief Tom Shannon, in a press release. “These donations help make the holiday season a little brighter for many families.”
Donations are distributed to partner organizations who serve families in need, the release stated. Last year nearly 15,000 toys were collected through the toy drive, serving well over 1,000 families.
The fire department is hosting the annual Ride for Toys event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 3, at the Target located at Frank Lloyd Wright and the Loop 101. Adults and kids alike get a kick out of riding the fire truck around the parking lot.
“We appreciate the partnership with Target allowing us to host this event in their parking lot year after year,” said Chief Shannon, in the release.
