Cigna Medical Group provides walk-in flu-shot clinics

Cigna Medical Group is administering flu shots this weekend at several walk-in flu shot clinics throughout the East Valley, including Scottsdale.

Every year, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for flu-related complications, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The best defense against the flu is to get a flu vaccine every year.

In the East Valley, the following clinics will be offered:

  • Scottsdale Medical Office, 7287 E. Earll Drive, Building D, Scottsdale, 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Call 480-840-0800.
  • Paradise Valley Multi-Specialty Center, 3805 E. Bell Road, Second Floor, Suite 2100, Phoenix, 8-11 a.m. Oct. 17. Call 602-404-5200.$32 for the public.

Cost is $32 for the public. There is no charge to Cigna customers under their preventive care benefit. High-dose flu shots are also available to the public for $55 for people ages 65 and older with high-risk for complications of the flu.

Everyone ages six-month-old and older should get the flu shot. According to the CDC, the following people are at higher risk for complications of the flu and should make it a priority to get the vaccine, including:

  • People with asthma, heart disease, diabetes or chronic lung disease.
  • Pregnant women.
  • People 65 years and older.
  • People who live with or care for others who are high risk of developing serious complications.
