Since 2013, loan officer Claudia Moreno from Evergreen Home Loans in Scottsdale has traveled to Mexico to volunteer with IChristmas Network, which brings gifts and holiday spirit to children in need.

This year’s record-breaking event welcomed 200 kids and their families, more than double from the previous year, according to a press release.

Ms. Moreno attributes the rapid growth to the organization’s first-ever door-to-door effort in the neighborhoods of Sonoyta, Sonora and an application process that allowed the organization to serve more children in need. Ms. Moreno also brought along a team of volunteers to assist in the effort.

“IChristmas Network was founded to help kids and families who are in need. We believe we can help by giving hope, spreading compassion and bringing cheer to families during the holidays. Coming from the same background and living conditions of those we help, I know firsthand that hope for kids goes a long way,” stated Diana Mena, director and founder for IChristmas Network, in the release.

During the annual daylong event, attendees enjoy live music, a holiday feast and games. Families are given a box full of food and essential cooking products, while each child receives a present from their wish list and a new pair of shoes.

Inspired by IChristmas’ vision and Moreno’s kindness, Evergreen Home Loans, a full-service direct lender with regional offices throughout the western United States, donated $1,000 to the organization’s annual event.

“We were really pleased with the turn out of this year’s event,” stated Ms.  Moreno in the release. “We were able to help more families this year, and it was great to see that impact firsthand. I’m thankful to have the support of Evergreen Home Loans to be able to help as many families in the community as we can.”
