Available in fitness centers nationwide, BODYSHRED is a nonstop, high-intensity, resistance and endurance-based 30-minute group exercise class.

The Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED Certification Workshop will be held Aug. 23 at Scottsdale Life Time Fitness, 6850 E. Chauncey Lane, Scottsdale,  during EMPOWER! Phoenix to be held Aug. 21-23.

During an all-day class, fitness instructors will learn Michaels’ BODYSHRED Program, her 3-2-1 system, motivational and teaching style, and more to keep classes positive, upbeat and packed to capacity.

Each BODYSHRED workout follows Michaels’ “3-2-1” interval format,
which includes three minutes of strength training, two minutes of cardio and one minute of core work.

Highlighting the personality of the instructors, those teaching can choose from more than 250 movements and exercises to create unique and dynamic classes. Plus, beginners to advanced fitness enthusiasts can modify the exercises so each workout is challenging and there are no plateaus to reach.

In order to maintain high standards, instructors must hold a national certification from an accredited organization such as AFAA, ACE, NASM, ACSM A or NESTA to register.

In addition to the workshop, trainers must then pass a practical exam
administered on-site, as well as an at-home written exam.
