Cactus Shadows girls golf coach named NFHS section coach of the year

Cactus Shadows High School has announced Girls’ Golf Coach Mark O’Bryan has been named the 2017-18 National Federal of State High School Associations Section 7 Coach of the Year.

In an AZPreps365 article by Seth Polansky – it reads, “The NFHS has a contact in each state who is responsible for selecting deserving coach award recipients. This person often works with the state coaches’ association in his or her respective state.”

Tahdehl Collentine-MacLean, Cactus Shadows’ Athletic Director said the school was proud of Coach O’Bryan.

“The time and effort he puts into building and developing his program and athletes does not go unnoticed,” she said in a prepared statement. “Coach O’Bryan has coached the Cactus Shadows Girls Golf team to three state titles.”

The NFHS is the national leadership organization for high school sports and performing arts activities. Since 1920, the NFHS has led the development of education-based interscholastic sports and performing arts activities that help students succeed in their lives.

“Cactus Shadows High School and CCUSD are so fortunate to have an educator and coach like Mark O’Bryan,” Cave Creek Unified School District Superintendent Debbi Burdick said in a prepared statement.

“He is an exemplar as a coach and teacher, and we congratulate him on his latest honor and accomplishment.”
