Notre Dame Prep freshman Fallon O’Connell ranks among the nation’s leading young equestrians after competing at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Hunt Seat National Finals.

Ms. O’Connell placed seventh in Varsity Intermediate Over Fences at the event, held April 24-26 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Ms. O’Connell was one of nearly 400 competitors out of the IEA’s membership of 11,000 riders, representing 167 teams, to earn a trip to nationals after she qualified at local and regional competitions during the 2014-15 school year, according to a press release.

Ms. O’Connell rides for Team Scottsdale under the direction of trainer Kathy Johnson.

Founded in 2002, the IEA was organized to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction available to middle school and secondary school students.
