Paradise Valley teacher receives computing educator award

The National Center for Women and Information Technology has recognized Janice Mak, tech lab teacher and Gifted Cluster Coach at Explorer Middle School, with the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award.

The Educator Award is conferred upon educators that have demonstrated a commitment to encouraging young women’s aspirations in computing. As a recipient of the Educator Award, she will receive an engraved commemorative trophy and one for the school, up to $1,000 of expense reimbursement for computing-related professional development activities, and a Sphero robotic educational toy provided by NCWIT member organization, Sphero.

Janice will attend the Arizona affiliate event on April 24 and will be presented with her award.
