Phoenix Suns Charities’ ‘Sunstudent’ scholarship applications available

Phoenix Suns Charities applications for the 2016 “SunStudent” Scholarship Program are now available.

The program will award 13 total scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to  $7,000, for students to use for educational expenses at an accredited post-secondary college or university of their choice, as long as it is located in the state of Arizona.

Seniors currently enrolled in an Arizona high school are encouraged to apply by visiting SunsCharities.org now through April 29.

Scholarship candidates must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply, and also participate in community service with a charitable organization, church, civic group, student government or other related organization.

In addition, applicants must be eligible for financial aid, based on the FASFA criteria.

As part of the application, each student must submit an essay, of at least 350 words, describing why the student has selected their educational path and how he or she plans to use education to improve the community.

“SunStudent” Scholarship applications will be processed by the Arizona Community Foundation. Students must sign up for a free online account with ACF, and select “apply for SunStudent Scholarship” to complete the application process.
