Rancho Solano Preparatoy School senior Shannon Gurley has verbally committed to continue her volleyball career collegiately at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Since beginning her education at Rancho Solano in pre-school, Ms. Gurley has been a fixture on and off the court throughout her 14 years as a Mustang. Rancho Solano is located 5656 E. Greenway Road in Scottsdale.

Ms. Gurley is currently the school’s all-time leader in nearly every statistical category including kills, aces, games played, and matches won, according to a press release.

In 2014 Ms. Gurley led the Mustangs to their first state tournament appearance in school history and was named to the AIA All-Division V 1st Team, as well as Section III Player of the Year. She has led all divisions in kills per set and was third among all players in total aces served.

The epitome of a student-athlete, Ms. Gurley is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate, and carries over a 4.1 GPA for her high school career. This year she also serves as the student body vice president.

This year, she has been named AZ Central Athlete of the Week by The Arizona Republic, named MaxPreps/AVCA Arizona Volleyball Player of the Week, and the recipient of The Taco Bell Student Athlete Citizen Award, the release stated.
