Scottsdale Community College stages WriterzBox showcase

Scottsdale Community College Theatre Arts presents the Fourth Annual WriterzBox Playwriting Showcase, a collection of students’ original scripts performed and staged as readings April 22-23, on the school’s campus, 9000 E. Chaparral Road.

The performances are free and open to the public, but reservations required at The show will be at 7:30 p.m. on both days, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on April 23.

The collection features the work of 11 playwrights, six directors, 21 actors, one live musician, and eight design tech students, according to a press release.

The student-based production is under the mentorship of E.E. Moe, Artistic Director of The Playwrights WriterzBox, and produced by the collaborative Playwriting/Acting, Directing/Design and Technology programs of SCC Theatre Arts.

“The scripts are an excellent display of creativity and spirit reflecting social issues, heart warming reunions, suspense, myths and legends, intrigue, lost identity and other surprises,” stated Ms. Moe in the release.

Some of the scripts may contain adult themes, the release stated.
