Student athletes receive scholarships at Spring All-City Awards Banquet

At the March 23 All-City Awards Banquet, two Scottsdale Unified School District students were awarded scholarships.

Brandon Hoffer, a student and basketball player at Chaparral High School, 6935 E. Gold Dust Ave, in Scottsdale and Madison Ross, a student and soccer player at Saguaro High School,  6250 N. 82nd Street in Scottsdale, each received a $500 scholarship from the Scottsdale Charro Foundation. Nominations for these awards are made by SUSD athletic directors and coaches.

“We really want to honor and recognize our student athletes who have done a phenomenal job in the District. This event also recognizes families who have supported their student’s academic and athletic endeavors. We do this at each and every All-City Banquet,” said Clif McKenzie, executive director of District Athletics.

The keynote speaker was District superintendent Dr. David Peterson.

The tri-annual All-City Banquet is a way for Scottsdale citizens and businesses to recognize and to honor the accomplishments – both academic and athletic – of athletes within SUSD’s sports programs. Forty-six athletes were honored at this event.
