One of eight students identified as Arizona’s top youth volunteers of 2016, Ms. Westra founded a school-based service program known as “Gators Giving Back,” which has provided approximately $25,000 in textbooks to the 40 percent of Xavier students with financial need.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program in its 21st year of honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism, is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
