Notre Dame Prep seniors excel in award competitions

Two students at Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale have received nationwide recognition in separate academic award competitions.

Senior Avery Cartwright has qualified as a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program.

Ms. Cartwright will grade Summa Cum Laude in May and has maintained a grade point average of 4.0 or hiegher every semester since beginning her freshman year at NDP, according to a press release.

Ms. Cartwright is also a recipient of the school’s St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship Award and participates in NDP’s drama club and show choir.

Ms. Cartwright is a member of the student government, plays club soccer and is a journalist for the school newspaper, The Seraphim.
Senior Sydney Bettis, who is also on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude, has been named a National Hispanic Scholar.

Ms. Bettis is a four-year awward winning member of the Saints varsity tennis team and serves as co-president of the National Honor Society, according to the release.

A co-founder and board member of the NDP Christian Service League, she received the school’s St. Augustine award for promise and growth last year.
