YMCA hosts blood drives Valleywide during February

Valley of the Sun YMCA will host 11 blood drives throughout the Valley to assist community members in need.

The Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Family YMCA will hold a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, according to a press release.

Throughout February, the American Red Cross buses will set up for blood donations at 11 of the Valley of the Sun YMCAs branches across the valley, including Flagstaff and Yuma. All blood types are needed, the release said.

“We know that every two seconds, in the U.S., someone is in need of blood,” said Peyton Tune, COO of the Valley of the Sun YMCA, in a prepared statement. “The Y has been a staple in the Valley for over 125 years with a strong focus on social responsibility. Our members do not join the Y to just ‘get fit.’ They join to be part of something much larger, something that betters their communities. A blood drive gives the gift of life, and it’s free.”
