11th annual Phoenix Cooks to present drool-worthy items

Forget the temperature outside!

For more than a decade, iHeartMedia’s Phoenix Cooks event – one of the biggest culinary fundraisers in Arizona – has made Scottsdale one of the hottest places to be on Labor Day Weekend.

Now in its 11th year, Phoenix Cooks will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale.

Benefiting Banner Children’s, the event will feature dozens of local eateries; an official College Football Tailgating Zone where culinary sports fans can watch the day’s college games while indulging in gourmet tailgating treats and beers, all sponsored by Cox Communications; featured chefs’ duals on stage with mystery ingredients; intimate beverage tasting classes that will be taught by the valley’s best, wine, beer, and spirits experts; and three live interactive stages that will be hosting a variety of chefs and their own culinary treats will be held every half hour.

Classes offered during event in private rooms run the gamut from “How to Sharpen a Knife Properly,” to “Beer and Cheese Pairing,” to even “How to Taste Wine Like a Pro.”

General admission tickets, which include all food, wine, beer, spirit samplings and stage demonstrations are $85 in advance, $100 at the door and $60 for designated drivers (if available).
