American Craft Beer Week kicks off Monday, May 11

Pull up a barstool, because American Craft Beer Week kicks off Monday, May 11.

While states around the nation are increasingly recognizing their own unique brewing communities and cultures with “Beer Week” celebrations of all sizes, American Craft Beer Week toasts the industry as a whole, and gives breweries around the nation an opportunity to organize lively, well-attended events as beer drinkers from coast to coast show their support for America’s exploding craft brewing community, according to a press release.

Arizona’s craft beer community is no exception. The state will have seven new breweries in the next couple months and is expected to have more than 70 by the end of the year, according to the release.

Recurring Events and Promotions:

Lumberyard Brewing Company; Beaver Street Brewing Company – Help feed, house and save the pups of second Chance Center for Animals. Come buy Doggie Beer Bones at either Beaver Street or Lumberyard all week, and they’ll reserve 100 percent of the profits for four-legged friends.

Freak’n Brewing Co. – Freak’n Brewing Co. is featuring $10 64oz growler fills throughout American Craft Beer Week, in addition to an array of other specials and deals outlined below.

SanTan Brewing Company – May 11 – 16 is Burger Week at SanTan Brewing Company. Each day, a new burger and be pairing will be featured.

SanTan is also the featured brewery of the month at World of Beer, Gilbert. Enjoy Devil’s Ale, HopShock IPA, LimeLeaf Cream Ale, Hefe + of course Mr. Pineapple. Grab a flight all month long for only $8.

Monday, May 11:
Dubina Brewing Co. – In honor of Nat’l Police Week, Dubina will host their 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Monday, May 11, to benefit the 100 Club of Arizona. Register onsite or by calling Joe Lindquist at 623-262-1107. A trophy and other prizes will be awarded to winners.

Tuesday, May 12:
Granite Mountain Brewing – Spend an evening with Granite Mountain Brewing’s Chef Rich Davis and Head Brewer Jerrad Smithat Granite Mountain’s Spring Pairing Dinner, a five-course paired beer dinner featuring locally grown produce from the Prescott Farmer’s Market. Each course is paired with a select five-ounce pour of a small-batch GMB brew. Cost is $50. Seatings are at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; RSVP in person or by calling 928-778-5535.

SanTan Brewing Company – Join SanTan at 5:30 p.m. at House of Brews for the SanTan Beer Playoff Bracket party. Eight southwestern style ales will be competing, and the guests select the winners. This is event is $10 a person, and includes SanTan goodies as well as tastes of brews like LimeLeaf Cream Ale, MoonJuice IPA, Mr. Pineapple, Devil’s Ale, HopShock IPA + more. May the best SanTan beer win. SanTan will also host a free “beer school” from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at World of Beer Gilbert featuring Brand Ambassador Alejandro.

Freak’n Brewing Co. – Join Freak’N Brewing Co. for a beer and cheese pairing from 3-8 p.m. and the return of Raspberry Wheat on tap.

Granite Mountain Brewing Company – Join Granite Mountain for a Craft 64 Tap Takeover.

Oak Creek Brewing Co. – Oak Creek Brewing Co. is hosting a tap takeover from 6-9 p.m. at Tucson’s Good Oak Bar from 6-9 PM.

Mother Road Brewing Company – Meet Mother Road Brewing Company’s cofounders from 5-9 p.m. for “Beer & Bacon Night” at Chandler’s Hungry Monk, where they’ll feature an array of Mother Road specialty brews on tap.

SanTan Brewing Company – Join SanTan at 6 p.m. for a special sampling event.

Celebrate American Craft Beer Week with a Crafty Beer Dinner at Pink Pony Scottsdale featuring Chef Stephen Eldridge. A reception kicks off at 6:30 pm, with diner to follow at 7 p.m. Tickets are $49 per person if purchased prior to May 14, and $65 per person on the day of the event.

Friday, May 15:
Freak’n Brewing Co. – Two Kill the Keg beers from 3-8 p.m.

Mother Road Brewing Company – Join Mother Road for live music from Kelsea Jacobsen and a ceremonial sign hanging of an original Mother Road sign from Route 66.

Granite Mountain Brewing – Enjoy a collaboration between Granite Mountain Brewing and Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company.

Saturday, May 16:
Lumberyard Brewing Company; Beaver Street Brewing Company – all day, 100 percent of sales will go toward the Nepal Earthquake Relief Effort.

Freak’n Brewing Co. – Join the Freak’N team from 12-8 p.m. for live music in the brew house and a visit from an onsite food truck.

Arizona Craft Breweries and Friends – AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival at the Scottsdale Civic Center in Old Town. The event celebrates the craft beer movement during American Craft Beer Week, and features a craft can award ceremony, live entertainment, craft food, VIP quarters, nano beer garden, beer Olympics and more than 250 local and national beers celebrating the canned craft beer revolution.
