City of Scottsdale offers free energy efficiency workshop April 7

The city of Scottsdale will be hosting a workshop for homeowners and businesses to discuss energy efficient roofing on April 7.

Roofs that reflect the desert sun’s heat back into space and insulate interiors can keep people comfortable during hot summers plus offer attractive savings on utility bills for air conditioning, according to a press release.

“Any homeowner or business that is considering a new roof in the near future should learn about the options for cool roofs,” stated Alisa McMahon, chair of the Scottsdale Environmental Quality Advisory Board and a coordinator of the city’s upcoming April 7 evening workshop on cool roofs.

The workshop will cover existing energy efficient roofing products for desert climates and introduce insulating roof tiles and other innovative products available now. The workshop will be 7-8:30 p.m. on April 7 at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road in Scottsdale.
