Fountain Hills Theater is proud to announce the opening of the Jerry Herman smash hit musical, “La Cage Aux Folles.”

This hilarious musical comedy served as the basis for the Robin Williams’ film “The Birdcage.” But before there was the popular movie, there was the hysterical ‘modern family’ musical – La Cage Aux Folles.

In La Cage Aux Folles cultures collide with comedic results. This wonderful ‘come as you are’ musical tells the story of Georges, the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner, Albin, who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse, Zaza.  When Georges’ son brings home his fiancée’s conservative parents to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test.

La Cage Aux Folles is a tuneful and touching tale of one family’s struggle to stay together, stay fabulous and above all else, stay true to themselves.

La Cage Aux Folles will play through Feb. 7. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. A reception will be held on opening night for all those attending that evening, featuring free appetizers and soft drinks.

Individual tickets are $33 for adults and $28 for youth ages 17 and under. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances. Group rates and student rush and veteran discounts are available. This show contains adult themes and is not recommended for children.

All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at 480-837-9661 x3.
