As part of its 2015 Sunday A’Fair free concert series, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present  “La Gran Fiesta: A Celebration of Latin and Hispanic Cultures” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1.

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of Scottsdale’s annual La Gran Fiesta, the special Sunday A’Fair showcases the L.A. band La Santa Cecilia, winner of the 2014 Grammy Award for “Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album.”

The acclaimed group is known for its unique sound and colorful, passionate performances. Named after the patron saint of musicians, La Santa Cecilia draws inspiration from around the globe, utilizing Pan-American rhythms like cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, rock and klezmer music.

La Gran Fiesta also features the Phoenix band Ritmo Latino, performing a fusion of upbeat Afro-Caribbean rhythms and relaxing, soothing flamenco and samba, as well as the Arazando Dance Company, Filipiniana Dance Troupe and Mariachi Juvenil de Mi Tierra.

In addition to live music and dance, La Gran Fiesta offers games and activities for families, including paper-flower-making and sugar-skull decorating; art and cultural exhibits; and an arts-and-crafts market. Beverages, foods from the grill and street tacos from Distrito are available for purchase.

Those who attend are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of great entertainment.
