La Forza Chamber Orchestra to present free concert

La Forza Chamber Orchestra will present Classics: Then and Now, a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the concert will be in the Camelback Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5902 East Camelback Road in Phoenix.

The concert will be in the church’s sanctuary and free parking is available, according to a press release.

Music Director Frank Darmiento will lead the orchestra. The program will include classical pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries.

“Toccata in the Style of Frescobaldi” by Gaspar Cassadó, was originally published as a work for cello and piano in 1925. Hans Kindler later arranged it for orchestra.

Franz Liszt wrote “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” for piano in 1847 and Karl Müller-Berghaus then arranged it for orchestra in 1851. Also in the program is “Symphony No. 4 in E Minor” by Johannes Brahms, premiered in 1885.
