‘Mary Poppins Jr.’, ‘A Christmas Story’ run through Dec. 23 on Scottsdale stages

Desert Stages Theatre is celebrating the holidays as home of performances of “Mary Poppins Jr.” and “A Christmas Story” until Sunday Dec. 23.

Directed by Lisa Barton Figueroa, “Mary Poppins Jr.” is based on the original book by Julian Fellowes, stories of P.L. Travers, and the Walt Disney film.

It is a youth show performed by actors ranging from ages 3-19.

“A Christmas Story” is based on the 1983 motion picture of the same name written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark.

“Mary Poppins Jr.” performances will run through Dec. 23 with shows every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the DST Mainstage.

“A Christmas Story” performances will run through Dec. 23 with shows every Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the DST Actor’s Cafe.

In addition, “A Christmas Story” will have added performances 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Dec. 19-20.
