Records broken at 6th annual Scottsdale Bentley Polo Championships

The Sixth Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships exceeded expectations at this years eight hour spectacle.

For the second year in a row the Bentley’s Aspen Valley Polo Club won the coveted Molina Cup against Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach team 7 to 5, according to a press release.

Team owner Melissa Ganzi scored an impressive 4 goals with the other goals scored by America’s top polo player Nic Roldan and teammate Juancito Bollini, and in front of more than 11,000 people.

“I am thrilled to have won the Molina Cup again this year. Our team executed our game plan and it paid off in a win. I am honored to have the opportunity to come back to Scottsdale again next year to play in the most attended polo event in the country,” said Ms. Ganzi in the release. “The whole day with everything going on is a sensory overload.”

In other match-ups – Molina’s Scottsdale All-Stars fell to Northwestern Mutual’s Palm Springs Polo Team 9 to 7, while Purely Sedona’s Polo Azteca defeated Nationwide’s La Jolla’s Polo team 11 to 5.

In the inaugural Women’s Sunset Match, Stick and Ball’s Chloe Carabasi stole the show scoring 7 of her team’s 13 goals against SOHO Scottsdale’s three goals.

“I am so honored to have been a part of this year’s Polo Party. I’ve never seen anything quite like it- the crowd was electric and made the women’s sunset match an absolute rush to play in,” said Ms. Carabasi in the release.

From a high goal count to a 28 percent increase in food and beverage sales, organizers attribute the big sales to the extended day, which lasted eight hours, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offered fan’s a “Cultural Concert” during the Women’s Sunset Match that consisted of a Grammy Performer, and members of the Arizona Opera among other acts.

On Saturday, polo goers were also treated to a preview of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and halftime performances by the Scottsdale Arabian Horseshow as well as World’s Longest Catwalk Fashion Show produced by Phoenix Fashion Week and even a Canine Couture, a dog fashion show.
