Scottsdale Concert Band concludes season with salute to moms

The Scottsdale Concert Band will conclude its 2014-15 season with a Mother’s Day concert titled “All the World’s a Stage,” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10.

The free concert will take place at the Saguaro High School Auditorium, 6250 N. 82nd St., Scottsdale. On the program, which will honor mothers, will be selections from “Ben Hur”; Dance Bacchanale from “Samson and Delilah”; “Embraceable You,” featuring saxophonist Eric Rasmussen; selections from “The Wizard of Oz”; and highlights from “Les Misérables.”

Mr. Rasmussen, director of instrumental music at Scottsdale Community College, spent the last 10 years performing in New York, where he was a staple of the jazz community, and throughout Europe.
