Scottsdale event-duo raises money for children of fallen soldiers

The Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation honors some of the nation’s greatest military personnel and raises money for children of fallen heroes with two events in May: A “Gathering of Heroes” celebration, followed by the 12th Annual Golf Tournament.

The celebration is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at JD’s at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort.

The following Congressional Medal of Honor recipients include:

  • Col. Jay Vargas, USMC, Vietnam
  • Col. Harvey C. “Barney” Barnum, USMC Vietnam
  • Maj. Frederick E. Ferguson, US Army, Vietnam
  • Maj. James A. Taylor, US Army, Vietnam
  • CW04 Hershal W. “Woody” Williams, USMC WWII
  • CSM. Robert M. Matterson, US Army, Vietnam
  • SSgt. Ssalvatore A. Giunta, US Army, Afghanistan

Autographed copies of books signed by these recipients will be available for sale, and the honorees will be available for photos. All proceeds will go to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, according to the release.

Following the event is the 12th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, May 13, at the Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale. The seven Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients will be participating to help raise money for the children of fallen Marines and law enforcement officers.
