Try a new twist on a traditional drink: The Mazatlan Mule

Scottsdale’s SOL Mexican Cocina has shared its Mazatlan Mule recipe with Independent readers.

A splash of Don Julio, a little agave and muddled ginger and you have the makings for a delicious winter drink.

The Mazatlan Mule is the restaurant’s December Farmer’s Market Margarita. Every month SOL Cocina features a fresh and vibrant margarita to spice up their already rich drink menu.

To make it yourself:

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of ginger
  • 1 ½ cup of ice
  • ¾ oz Agave Nectar
  • 2 ¼ oz Don Julio Blanco
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • A mint sprig
  • Splash of ginger beer

Directions:

Muddle slices of ginger in a glass. Add in ½ cup of ice. Pour in Agave Nectar, Don Julio Blanco, lime juice then shake and strain over fresh ice. Top with ginger beer to fill the glass. Garnish with mint sprig.
