Butterfly Wonderland is America’s largest Butterfly Pavilion that entertains, educates and enchants visitors of all ages on the wonders of one of Mother Nature’s most beloved creatures.  The facility includes a conservatory, a 3-D theater, Butterfly Emergence Gallery, a Butterfly Treasures Gift Shop, Rivers of the Amazon, Ant Colony, a Honey Bee Extravaganza and a Café.

Butterfly Princess at Butterfly Wonderland – Guests are invited to meet the 2015 Butterfly Princess at Butterfly Wonderland. Photo opportunities will be available and there will be plenty of time to ask questions. She will also be offering complimentary honey samples, recipes and more.

Those Amazing Monarchs Workshop – Guests are invited to join instructor Gail Morris from the Southwest Monarch Study for a Monarch workshop. Ms. Morris will inform guests about the migration path of this little insect and the part the state of Arizona plays in their journey.

National Hummingbird & Butterfly Day with As You Wish Pottery – Guests are invited to Butterfly Wonderland in celebration of National Hummingbird and Butterfly Day. From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, As You Wish pottery station will be in the lobby for painting a rain forest themed ceramic pottery piece — a butterfly, snail, worm, bumble bee or fish. The dried piece will be ready for pick up at the end of the visit, according to a press release.

 Tai Chi in the Rainforest – Guests are invited to a special guided session on Tai Chi in the rainforest. Guests will join in this peaceful practice while being surrounded by the calm and beautiful presence of thousands of butterflies. Bring comfortable, loose clothing that allows you to move freely. One inside the atrium, class will be conducted without shoes, according to a press release.

Instructor, Master Rasoul Sobhani, has over 20 years of practicing martial arts and 14 years of experience teaching yoga, tai chi, chi gung, meditation, kung fu, self-defense, and Pilates, according to the release.

Plant Sale – Butterfly Wonderland will be hosting their second annual plan sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the courtyard. The sale will feature bee, hummingbird and butterfly friendly plants for sale. Prices will range from $6.95 to $19.95 and all proceeds will benefit the Butterfly Wonderland Foundation.

The Master Gardeners from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Office will also be present to help answer plan questions.

  • There will also be food trucks serving coffee and breakfast foods.
  • In addition, the AZ Queen Bee will be onsite with honey samplings and Educational brochures will be available from The Hummingbird Society, Southwest Monarch Study and American Bee Federation.

Yoga in the Rainforest – Guests are invited to Yoga in the Rainforest presented by India Benedetto. The class will feature all levels of Vinyasa based yoga geared toward connecting breath with movement. Students will be guided through a series of yoga postures that will build strength and flexibility.

Ms. Benedetto is a certified yoga instructor with credentials from Yoga Therapy from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts where she currently assists in the Unity Yoga Teaching Training program, according to a press release.
