Mahjong for Beginners meets 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays starting Sept. 7, and continuing through Oct. 19. Vicki Errigo Hunt instructs. Mahjong cards must be purchased before the first session.

Beginning Bridge meets 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays starting Sept. 8 and continuing through Oct. 13. Frank Bigham instructs. Lots of practice hands help participants learn and improve their game.

“Taking a class at The J is more than just an opportunity to learn something new, it’s a place to make friends and to belong,” said Harriet Colan, coordinator of the program, in the release. “Many of our participants form life-long friendships with others they may never have met and continue to meet and play at The J after the classes end.”

Classes are limited to 12 players to allow individual attention and play assistance.

Cost is $75 for J members and $90 for non-members. The J is at 12701 N. Scottsdale Road.
