Be cautious while driving through monsoon storms, urges PD

The Scottsdale area was hit with a monsoon storm on Aug. 2 that caused flooding, road debris and fallen power lines.

The Scottsdale Police Department took to Facebook to post photos and give caution to residents about driving through flooded roads.

“Damage from the storm included downed power lines and poles at 136th Street and Shea,” the Facebook post stated. “With more rain expected today.”

Here are some tips to keep you safe in the wet weather:

  1. Never drive through flooded washes and streets.
  2. Slow down while driving in inclement weather.
  3. Never drive over trees, bushes, or other debris.
  4. Avoid downed power lines and if power lines happen to come down on or around your vehicle, stay inside your vehicle until help arrives.
