Bridge repairs, utility work, road improvements affect traffic on city streets

Scottsdale transportation officials have released a partial list of road construction projects and traffic restrictions.

A Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community construction project southeast of the intersection of 90th Street and Via Linda will cause traffic restrictions and delays on 90th Street from Via Linda to Loop 101.

The following are restrictions through approximately Friday, Dec. 21:

  • Southbound traffic on 90th Street will be restricted to one lane and moved to the center of the road.
  • Westbound left turns on Via Linda at 90th Street will be reduced to one lane. For more information, contact the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community at 480-362-5477.

The Drinkwater Boulevard underpass will remain closed until fall 2019 to all traffic from Second Street to First Avenue to permit repairs to Drinkwater Bridge. Detour on Scottsdale or Miller roads from Osborn Road to Indian School Road.

The Arizona Canal Path reconstruction will be coordinated with the bridge repair. The path will remain closed from 68th Street to Goldwater Boulevard. Detour on the north side of the canal.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS SOUTH OF INDIAN BEND ROAD

• Westbound traffic on Thomas Road will be shifted to the center two-way left-turn lane immediately west of Pima Road 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, Dec. 17-21, for utility work.
During those same times and dates, the eastbound curb lane on Thomas Road will be closed immediately west of Pima Road.

• Sundown Circle will be open to local traffic only at Sundown Drive 7 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through Sunday, Dec. 30, for boring.

• The northbound bike lane and right-turn bay on 68th Street will be closed at Camelback Road Dec. 17-31 for boring.

• Traffic in either direction on 78th Street will be alternately shifted to the center lane at First Avenue 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 21, for utility work.

• Northbound traffic on 64th Street will be shifted to the southbound left-turn lane, and left turns will be restricted at Camelback Road 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Dec. 13-22 for utility work.

• Traffic on Palo Verde Lane will be controlled by a flagger at Sundown Drive 7 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Dec. 28, for utility work.

• 68th Street will be closed from Indian School Road to Camelback Road Jan. 2-March 29 for bridge construction. During those same dates, eastbound left turns and westbound right turns on Camelback Road will be restricted. Detour on Goldwater Boulevard.

• Pima Road will be closed at the Arizona Canal (between McDonald Drive and Indian Bend Road) Jan. 7-Feb. 22 for reconstruction of the Pima Road bridge over the canal.

• Pima Road traffic will intermittently be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers at the Arizona Canal (between McDonald Drive and Indian Bend Road) Feb. 11-March 28 for reconstruction of the Pima Road bridge over the canal.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS FROM INDIAN BEND TO THUNDERBIRD ROADS

• The southbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed from Via Linda to Shea Boulevard 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Wednesday, Dec. 19 for ADA ramp work.

• Westbound Cactus Road will be reduced to one lane from 60th Street to 52nd Street through Saturday, Dec. 15, for road work.

• Multiple lane restrictions will occur on eastbound Shea Boulevard from 90th Street to 118th Street 8:30 p.m.- 6 a.m. weeknights through Friday, Dec. 14, for utility work.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS NORTH OF THUNDERBIRD ROAD

• The eastbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed from Hayden Road to 90th Street 8 p.m.-3 a.m. weeknights Sunday-Thursday, Dec. 16-20, for utility work.

• The southbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed from Cactus Road to Via Linda 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 14, for ADA ramp work.

• The northbound right-turn bay and bike lane on Cave Creek Road will be closed at Lone Mountain Parkway 7 a.m.-3 p.m. through Thursday, Jan. 10, for road work.

• Median lanes in both directions on Miller Road will be closed at Pinnacle Peak Road through Friday, Dec. 28, (except Fridays and Saturdays) for road work.

• The eastbound curb lane on Thompson Peak Parkway will be closed immediately east of 87th Street 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Dec. 21, for boring.
• Eastbound traffic on McClain Drive will be shifted to the center of the road immediately east of 78th Street through Friday, Dec. 21, for sewer line repairs.

• Westbound traffic on Rio Verde Drive will be routed through the center of the roundabout at 118th Street through Friday, Dec. 21, while the roundabout is constructed. During those same dates, southbound 118th Street will be closed. Detour on 120th Street.

• Traffic on 118th Street will be controlled by flaggers at Red Bird Road weekdays through Friday, Dec. 14, for utility work.

• Curb lanes in both directions on 92nd Street will be closed from Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to Raintree Drive 6:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 14, for ADA ramp improvement.

• Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Thompson Peak Parkway and Bell Road 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 14, for boring.

• Princess Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Hayden Road 7 p.m.-4 a.m. through Friday, Dec. 14, while the pedestrian bridge is painted.

• The northbound curb lane on 90th Street will be closed from Raintree Drive to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard weeknights through Wednesday, Dec. 19, for utility work.
