City council opts to interview additional city manager candidates

The Scottsdale City Council will continue the process to find Scottsdale’s next city manager after unanimously voting to interview additional candidates identified through the recruitment process.

Additional interviews could occur as early as December, though no specific dates have been set, according to a press release.

Three finalists were interviewed Nov. 10 and remain in contention for the job: Konrad Hildebrandt, assistant city manager, city of Odessa, Texas; Gary M. Luebbers, previous city manager, city of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and Jeffery M. Nichols, Scottsdale city treasurer.

Scottsdale’s city manager position has been vacant since June 2015, the release stated. Scottsdale Water Director Brian K. Biesemeyer has been serving as acting city manager since then, but is not a candidate for the position fulltime.
