Drunk driver crashes through gate, fence at Scottsdale airport

Preston Scott Andrews, 23, has been arrested for an extreme D.U.I. and felony criminal damage after crashing through Scottsdale Airport gates and fencing.

At 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, the Scottsdale Police Department received a call from the Scottsdale Airport stating a white Honda Civic had crashed through a gate, according to a police report. The driver had reportedly been driving around on the airfield inside of the airport grounds, the release stated.

Andrews then attempted to leave the airport by smashing through a fence line, police stated. The car was lodged through the fence when responding officers took Andrews into custody, the report stated.

At this time, Andrews has been charged with an extreme D.U.I. and felony criminal damage. The investigation is on-going and detectives are working with the FAA in regards to additional federal charges, according to the report.
