Free yoga classes to celebrate International Day of Yoga

Four free yoga classes for the community will be offered by the Valley of the Sun JCC to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21.

“Yoga has so many benefits for both the mind and body that we wanted to take this opportunity to invite the community to experience it at no cost,” Denise Krater, fitness director, said in a prepared statement. “Regular yoga practice improves strength, balance and flexibility while releasing tension and stress.”

Yoga schedule:

  • 9:30 a.m. — Yoga Flow: flowing movements paired with breath to release mind and body
  • 11 a.m. — Restorative Yoga: uses blankets and bolsters rejuvenate the body
  • Noon — Gentle Yoga: gentle postures strengthen core and increase flexibility. Great for beginners
  • 6 p.m. — Power Yoga: challenging poses increase strength and stamina

Participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring water to classes at 12701 N. Scottsdale Road. For information, call 480-483-7121.
