Man shot after attempting to enter wrong Scottsdale apartment

An intoxicated man was shot in Scottsdale after trying to enter the wrong apartment.

The Scottsdale Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 8700 E. Camelback Road, the Scottsdale Shadows Complex.

Early investigation revealed that a male subject staying with a complex resident returned to the area intoxicated; he attempted to enter what he believed was the unit he was to be staying in, according to the Scottsdale police.

The man attempted to open the door with the wrong key. The female resident, who was home alone, heard the commotion at her front door and gave commands through the door for the subject to leave, said police.

The man continued to attempt entry, the police report stated. The female then fired one shot through the front door striking the subject in the leg.

The male suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released, according to police.

At this time, the investigation continues and criminal charges for either party are yet to be determined, stated the report.
