Pinnacle boys defeats Chaparral in 6A basketball finals


Pinnacle High School boys basketball defeated Chaparral High School in the 6A Championship game at Wells Fargo Arena on the Arizona State University campus.

Pinnacle was the No. 1 seed coming into the game with Chaparral being No. 2.

University of Arizona commit Nico Mannion of Pinnacle scored 34 points, and had 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists to lead Phoenix Pinnacle to its second straight state 6A boys basketball championship, 83-64, on Tuesday night.

Chaparral (22-8) has lost all four its appearances in the state championship game- in 2010 and 2011 in the 5A-II final and in 5A title game in 1993.
