Police: 1 dead after three-vehicle collision in Scottsdale

One person has died, and several others sustained injuries, following a three-vehicle collision in Scottsdale on April 7, police officials say.

On Sunday, April 7, at 1:54 p.m., Scottsdale police officers responded to a three-vehicle collision on Hayden Road and the Loop 101 underpass.

The investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling northbound on Hayden Road before leaving the roadway, and driving up onto the sidewalk and over the adjacent landscaping. The vehicle then collided with a ride-share vehicle that was stopped facing westbound on the freeway off-ramp, police officials say.

This collision pushed the second vehicle into a third vehicle that was also stopped on the westbound off-ramp.

The occupants of the third vehicle were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the ride-share vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, police say.

Two passengers in the ride-share vehicle escaped injury.

The offender was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment is suspected in this incident, according to police officials.

The investigation is on-going and no further details are available at this time.
