Police: family altercation turns deadly in Scottsdale

Scottsdale Police Officers responded to a home at the 9900 block of E. Peregrine Place in the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 14 in reference of a reported family disturbance.

The initial call indicated there had been some type of altercation and that one of the involved parties was deceased, according to press release.

First arriving officers were met outside of the home by a male subject, later identified as Matthew Libman, 38, who indicated he was the caller. Inside the residence officers found evidence of an obvious struggle and a deceased male, identified as the homeowner Kip Libman, 73.

The ongoing investigation has revealed that at some point in the afternoon, the father and son became involved in a physical altercation inside of the home, police officials say.

That altercation resulted in the death of the elder Libman. Matthew Libman has been arrested and is being held on suspicion of murder in the death of his father, Kip Libman.
