Public invited to comment on police department re-accreditation

The Scottsdale Police Department is seeking public comments as part of its re-accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.

The public can learn more and provide input at 4 p.m. meeting today, Monday, July 27, at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road.

Assessors from the commission will be on-site July 26-29 to examine all aspects of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification by the team that the Scottsdale meets the standards is part of a voluntary process to gain re-accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

The department initially received accreditation in November 1994 and re-accreditation every three years since.

Those unable to attend the meeting are welcome to provide input from 1 to 3 p.m. that same day by calling 480-312-1985.

Written comments also can be submitted to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA, 20155.
