Scottsdale City Council OKs funds, makes agreement for food & wine event

Scottsdale City Council decided to funnel money into the upcoming Food & Wine Experience as well as execute an agreement with R Entertainment Company, LLC.

According to a city staff proposal, the city council decided Tuesday, Oct. 25 to allow the allocation of no more than $82,500 from the portion of the Tourism Development Fund dedicated to event retention and development to promote the city in the event.

Additionally, the council chose to enter into a one-year agreement with R Entertainment Company to promote Scottsdale as a tourist destination, the proposal states.

At the end of the event, R Entertainment Company will provide the city a post-event report, which will detail an evaluation of the producer’s performance, potential benefits of the promotion and any other information pertinent to the evaluation, according to the proposal.

The proposal also said the city has the option to conduct an event intercept survey during the event as long as it is at a reasonable cost for the event producer.

The food and wine festival is in its second year of existence and will take place at the Salt River Fields in the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Nov. 4-6.

According to the proposal, it will be a culinary experience featuring 60 restaurants, 200 wine, craft beers and spirit varietals. Additionally, the event will feature various intimate dining experience that celebrity chefs will host, the proposal stated.
