Scottsdale city offices to close Nov. 26-27 for Thanksgiving

Most city offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, for Thanksgiving. Here’s information you should know about city services and keeping safe:

  • The city will not pick up trash or recycling on Thanksgiving Day. Thursday’s collection moves to Friday, and Friday’s collection moves to Saturday. Get more information at 480-312-5600 or ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “holiday collection.”
  • Getting injured while cooking Thanksgiving dinner is the No. 1 cause of urgent care visits during the holiday. If you’re planning on cooking a turkey in a fryer, read this first: ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “holiday meals.”
  • Make sure to follow these simple tips to avoid costly and stinky grease-related blockages in your sewer lines. Dry-wipe all pots, pans, plates and cookware before washing to prevent grease from going down the drain; save used oil in a sealable container for later use or dispose directly into the trash; and place a strainer in the kitchen sink drain to prevent solids from going down the drain. Learn more at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “fat, oils and grease.”
