Scottsdale massages new special event user guide

Scottsdale City Council discussed a new special events user guide at a Wednesday, July 6 meeting at City Hall.

The special events ordinance in Chapter 22 of the Scottsdale Revised Code was passed by council in March and went into effect on July 1.

At the June 21 council meeting the city council passed a motion to add an item to a city council agenda regarding the proposed first edition of the special events user guide.

The user guide is to “assist special event organizers with planning … outsides important procedural items, policies, and contact information to ensure event requirements are met.”

Council offered a number of suggestions including expanding the notification area, defining and clarifying certain guidelines and tracking the number of event applications received.
