Scottsdale police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on Wednesday morning at 8750 E. McDowell Road.

A domestic dispute reportedly led to a stabbing around 3:30 a.m. inside an apartment complex off McDowell and Pima roads, according to published news reports.

Police say a couple had been arguing, and the boyfriend tried to stab the girlfriend several times. During the struggle, the girlfriend grabbed a knife and stabbed the boyfriend in the arm, according to police.

The male then fled the apartment complex where he was contacted by arriving officers, police stated. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and is currently listed in serious condition.

Officer Kevin Watts says it appears the girlfriend is the victim — who acted in self-defense. Names of the involved parties are not being released at this time.
