Scottsdale police identify deceased man found in canal

The Scottsdale Police Department has identified the young man found floating in a Scottsdale canal on May 11 as 24-year-old Nathan Edmiston.

It appears the victim’s death was a result of a medical issue, according to Scottsdale Police Department Sgt. Ben Hoster.

At 6:20 a.m., a witness reported seeing a body floating face down in the canal just south of Roosevelt at the 7700 block near Vista del Camino. Scottsdale patrol officers responded and located a deceased individual in the small canal by the bike path in the park, police officials stated.

When pulled from the canal, the victim was wearing athletic clothing and there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The investigation will continue with the help of the County Medical Examiner’s Office.
