Jon W. Harris, 32, was arrested by Scottsdale patrol officers for reportedly driving under the influence when he hit a man crossing at the intersection of Indian School Road and 75th Street on Dec. 9.

The 6:30 a.m. accident caused the road to be closed for four hours, according to a Scottsdale Police Department news release that detailed the path of the adult male pedestrian who crossed the road from north to south in the east crosswalk against the red light.

A sedan, heading eastbound on Indian School Road, drove through the 75th Street intersection on a green light, hitting the pedestrian, the release said. The man received serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

After the driver of the sedan was identified, accident investigators determined that he was impaired at the time of the accident. Mr. Harris was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of DUI and aggravated assault.
