SPD: Woman dies after jumping from moving vehicle, driver arrested

A woman has died after jumping from a moving vehicle along Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale, according to police officials.

On Thursday, March 14, at 7:40 p.m., Scottsdale Police Department officers responded to the 6500 block of Indian School Road for numerous calls of a subject down.

When the officers arrived, they located an injured adult female subject in the middle of the roadway, police say. The female victim was transported to an area hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Investigators determined that the victim and her friend, 21-year-old Courtney Kiser, had been drinking in downtown Scottsdale. Kiser later decided to drive home in a red Ford Mustang with the victim in the front seat passenger seat.

As the vehicle was traveling westbound on Indian School, Kiser and the victim got into a verbal argument, police say. At some point, the victim opened the passenger door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

Kiser stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene. Kiser was later arrested for DUI.

The incident is still under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
