Traffic advisory: fatal collision closes Loop 101 at Scottsdale Road

A single-person fatal crash has closed Loop 101 westbound at Scottsdale Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

There is no estimate for when the Pima Freeway will reopen, the department posted online.

Department of Safety Public Information Officer Quentin Mehr announced via Twitter at 1:47 p.m. on Aug. 15, that state troopers are investigating a single vehicle fatal collision on west bound state route 101, east of 64th Street, and traffic is exiting at Scottsdale Road.

 

The Scottsdale Road on-ramp is also closed.

Additionally, at 2:37 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation Tweeted that the freeway back-up extends two miles to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Earlier in the afternoon at 1:17 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation posted a photo to their Twitter showing the vehicle and subsequent traffic.
